The natural swimming pools for public use use the same conception of the biological swimming pools for private use even if the greater number of swimmers compels the right imensions to guarantee the quality of the water.
The public natural swimming pools are popular in Austria and Germany since a certain number of years. The concept was developed initially in Austria, where people were conscious of the important benefit for health to bath in the natural water of thermal spas. Thousands of natural swimming pools for public use were built in Germany and Austria for hotels, local authorities and communities.
Close to Leipzig in Germany, a 5.000 square meters natural swimming pools was built in 1998. As usually, water is cleaned in the sector of regeneration and turns over to the swimming area. In summer, more than thousand people employ the swimming pool per day. Analyses showed that water was drinkable. A certain number of projects and new constructions often relate to projects for communities. The Austrian communities implied their fellow-citizens in the construction of natural swimming pools. The people involved in the project are aware of the maintenance of the plants and the monitoring of the pool.
